Rajesvari Yoga with Graeme

Welcome to Rajesvari Yoga

Traditional Indian Yoga practices presented with dedication and care

Hatha Yoga

Rajesvari Yoga is predominantly hatha-based which is a strong, traditional practice, emphasising slow breath and movement in unison. We are also accredited in both Vinyasa and Yin yoga instruction.

Classes are offered at beginner, intermediate and practitioner levels and the practices are easily accessible in safe and comfortable environments.

The underlying principle for all levels, is that immediate benefits will be experienced, but these will develop into an overall increase in well-being with regular practice

Vinyasa yoga, whilst being more movement-based, is also a traditional practice but there is an emphasis on the flow from one asana to the next.

Yin Yoga takes many of the same traditional asanas and extends the time they are held for up to 5 minutes. It is a floor-based practice which aligns with traditional Chinese medicine.

The practice of Yoga reaches back centuries from its origins in India and holds a distinct purpose in modern society.

Physical enhancement through the asanas is a fundamental aspect of yoga practice, developing alignment, strength, flexibiltiy and balance.

Breathing techniques and the meditative qualities of savasana promote emotional regulation and relaxation.

Yoga fosters mind-body connection and an awareness of the individual as part of a collective spirit.

At Rajesvari, sporting involvement at player, coach and management levels has also fostered a belief that yoga gives a great advantage in body and mind, whilst significantly reducing the odds of injury.

Rajesvari's Yoga Instructor - Graeme

Graeme Heinrich

Graeme has had several careers from hospitality to horticulture and stonemasonry.

He loves the outdoors, physical labour and has a creative flair that has always seen his work in demand, however, at the time, the stonework resulted in considerable wear and tear on his body.

On the advice from Yogis encountered in his travels, Graeme attended local beginner classes and community yoga events and found that he had an affinity with the practice.

In a trip to Rishikesh, India in 2017, he landed by chance in the class of Master Instructor, Shailendra Dangwal and trained in traditional Hatha yoga. This resulted in a physical transformation with improvement in his balance, strength and flexibility together with an overall improvement in his well-being.

Graeme qualified as a yoga instructor at Krishna Village, NSW in 2019 and has taught ever since. His studies in India are ongoing.

Yoga Studio Like No Other!

“Ehipassiko” (as the Buddha might say): come see for yourself.  I chose to rearrange my French classes in order to attend two yoga classes with Graeme each week – which start with gentle rotation of the wrists and turn into a solid workout of the body and spirit.

Graeme is clear to confirm any hands-on assist is consented to.  Savasana is followed by an om exhalation and chanting.  I like it.  Graeme would be a stand-out, even if he were based in a capital city – but he’s here in Bendigo, and I rejoice for that.  You might not live in Bendigo, but consider making a tourism trip here to experience our gorgeous township, art gallery, famous Star Cinema, the Great Stupa – and a yoga class with Graeme.

Graeme welcomes you to the world of yoga in such a way that you feel relaxed and ready to explore the various postures in his classes.

The Rajesvari Yoga Studio is set in Australian bushland, and often I gaze at beautifully coloured native birds through the window as I am in the Tadasana (Mountain Pose) position.

I love the way Graeme guides you through the postures explaining what levels you can achieve.  In a realm that can sometimes feel competitive, as you challenge yourself to achieve more advanced postures, Graeme encourages you to listen to your body and connect with where your body wants to take you.

Graeme also shares his knowledge generously with the various disciplines of yoga so that our minds and spirituality can be stimulated adding further perspective to the world we live in.

The benefits of Graeme’s yoga classes are long lasting as I am in a flow state of heightened mental and emotional awareness as I walk out of each yoga class.

I’ve been practising yoga with Graeme for several months. His asanas are vigorous and well thought out. His enthusiasm for all aspects of yoga is inspirational. During practice he is supportive and quick to adjust your posture to maximise the benefits of yoga.

Graeme is always welcoming, well-planned and encouraging. He teaches yoga calmly and carefully while extending my fitness, strength and flexibility.

Graeme’s yoga classes have been great for increasing my physical strength and flexibility for the last two years. Graeme’s skills as a teacher plus his enthusiasm for yoga, create a positive atmosphere, most conducive to learning about the practice of yoga.
